Through My Eyes

With outreach events and Tibetan events  in NYC I haven't yet been able to work on the sculpture of Tara Drolma except to  continue to
keep the clay moist. This week was another outreach event of sorts. Here I am preparing for a display at the day job...

I'm not bringing along everything but enough to bring attention to the Tibetan situation.

Here's the booth. Everything is fitting in somehow! I wasn't entirely prepared so my display is a bit rough with some of the items sitting on the box I carry the horse in. There were lots of fascinating presentations there including a handmade kayak to the left and a landscape and wildlife painter's work to the right.I couldn't hang up all the flags so the prayer flag banner is draped over the chairs with the handprinted flag to the front to show what it looks like.We can see the printing block there! The larger sculpture serves to illustrate both the anguish and the tenacity of Tibet as we know well; Here I'm using some props for emphasis. The motif on the shirt is  representative of the compassionate eyes of the Buddha.  Looking a bit closer...

We can see the sculpture of Tara Drolma on the computer!  I showed people through the pages for a Windhorse project while talking about
the current conditions in Tibet.  Our loom is on the table below.

The Windhorse looks like it is flying over the waves!  I have tried to convey the sense of peaceful indomitablility and freedom  that is very much a part of the Tibetan gift to the world.  The prospect of it's loss is neither tolerable nor endurable - nor should it be, for it is something that will affect all human beings everywhere whether or not they are aware of it now. It is our obligation and honor to create  this awareness where it is not and to encourage it where it is.  There's a lot more to add but as usual two as one we'll add to the notes later beautiful one!
