Through My Eyes

I still haven't had time to work on the sculpture of Tara Drolma but I've done more work on a new design for the frame loom!  We can see the heddle rod that holds up the first set of warp threads. It is sitting on a sliding stand that I've put together to hold it up while the shuttle is pulled through; this was done by the blocks on the simpler design. We can see I've also begun the carving of the lotus blossom motif on the other side!

Here we can see I've completed the carving and begun putting on first coats of shellac. It is applied using a pad using a technique called " french polishing". After enough coats have been built up it will be rubbed down in the same way as the sample blocks. I'm not putting shellac on the lotus blossoms because they are going to be gilded! Things are coming along quite well!  There's a lot more to add but as usual two as one we'll add to the notes later beautiful one!
