Through My Eyes

With the  spring and early summer work completed it is time to work on the sculpture of Tara Drolma again...

Although the sculpture remains somewhat moist the base is quite dry!  I'll begin by wetting the towels here first.  This week has been another terrible week in Tibet. The day after His Holiness the Dalai Lama's birthday a 22 year old nomad walked into the flames in an area of Tibet just outside of Lhasa called Damshung. Damshung is one of the many places where the CCP has been fencing in grasslands and restricting the nomads traditional way of life. Frequently in international circles the CCP rationalizes this cultural genocide by saying they are trying to protect the grasslands from overgrazing because they have been made more fragile as a result of global warming. However, it doesn't seem to stop the CCP from it's expansion of energy intensive mining on the plateau, or prevent them from sabotaging a global accord to reduce greenhouse gases. And it doesn't seem to cause them to regulate their own activities to reduce their own enormous contribution to the problem. In the end the CCP's policies in the grasslands of Tibet are  only yet again about the unbalanced human desire to acquire things.

And yet another of the Tibetan land's rightful caretakers has gone.

There's a lot more to add but as usual two as one we'll add to the notes later beautiful one!
