Through My Eyes

We're in our coracle on the Yalong Dza chu on our way to Hor Tresho the Chakdu Kawalungring!  Our Footprint Tibet handbook says that these are the different names given for it. I combined them in the poem since it sounded more awesome which of course it is since Yeshe Tsogyel Padmasambhava went there! At 5082 metres it is over sixteen thousand feet, more than three miles high among the Kawalungring mountains. Our Tibetan handbook doesn't describe the events surrounding their stay there although something like the events of  our poem may have occurred! Sudden storms in the mountains are common in Tibet and many other parts of the world. Nyarong became  important to the Nyingma tradition as it is still along with the Bon tradition. Our Footprint Tibet handbook doesn't say why Nyarong Gonpo Namgyel began his attempt to conquer the kingdoms of Kham. He seems almost an incarnation of one of the Mongol Khans and may have been one although he revered the Nyingma tradition rather than the Gelukpa or Sakyapa, in particular one of the great Tertons Nyakla Pema Dudul who lived in Shunling. I suspect that one of the Terton's teachers  was a yogini since Pema is one of his names!  I didn't want to say  much about Nyarong Gonpo Namgyel's  campaign except that it was a tragic misuse of great fortitude and ability that may have been an inevitable  result of the strife that had already  occurred there. That he was closely associated with an heir to the Nyingma tradition that he greatly respected along with his formidable mental qualities indicated ability to someday become a great tulku himself. Another treasure hunter , Terton Sogyel also lived in Nyarong! Our Footprint Tibet handbook mentions that he came from Karzang Gonpa although I haven't been able to find out where this is yet. There's a lot more to add but as usual two as one we'll add to the notes later beautiful one!
