Through My Eyes
*
We're in our coracle on the Mekong Da chu on our way to the river banks and forests where the Songrong mushroom grows! Our Footprint Tibet handbook indicates that during the wet season Tibetans spend most of their time picking this mushroom to sell to buyers who export it to Japan. It is actually considered to be a delicacy there and is believed to be a powerful remedy for cancer. It's whitish gold in color and grows only from the roots of living pine trees. Tibetans actually don't like the taste as it turns out! Like many of other herbs though, it has been tremendous aid to Tibetans as it enables them to escape poverty. In most cases they are able to earn more during the summer months than they are able to the entire rest of the year! I focused on the shamanic and healing aspects in the poem though since that is important to us! I've realized that Meili Dungjang isn't the place where the monument is so it must just be near a kilometer marker on the road that goes to Jol. It does lead to the same inner pilgrimage circuit of the Kawa Karpo mountain range that the Miyam Go me monastery does though and goes by a few monasteries that were branches of Katok Dorjeden monastery which we know is the one on the hill shaped like an eight footed lion! There's a lot more to add but as usual two as one we'll add to the notes later beautiful one!
