Through My Eyes
*
We're in our coracle on the Lugu tso! Our Footprint Tibet handbook indicates that the water beneath us is 45 meters 146 feet deep and that the water is so clear that it is transparent to 11 meters 36 feet in depth! I have read accounts of the lakes of Tibet in which the water is so clear that the eye is unable to distinguish between it and the surrounding air so I described the water of Lugu Lake like this since it probably is equally as clear. There are lots of wondrous places here although our Footprint Tibet handbook doesn't describe them specifically so we'll float along to each of them and find out about them for ourselves. It does show that there are five islands: Dazui, Lige, Xiewa Er, Liwubi, and Buwa. Tibetans called the Moxi live here and are a Tibetan-Burman people who carry on the Tibetan Buddhist faith. There were several Gelukpa monasteries here and a Sakya monastery here at one time but only two,Daming Gonpa and Shubi Gonpa remain. The Moxi culture is matriarchal and property is passed down from mother to daughter rather than father to son unlike many other areas of the world! There's a lot more to add but as usual two as one we'll add to the notes later beautiful one!
