Through My Eyes
*
We're in our coracle on the Li chu on our way to Litang and the Kampo Nenang! Our Footprint Tibet handbook indicates that the Li chu is actually a tributary of the Yalong Dza chu. It's rather large and extends all the way down to near Lugu Lake! It doesn't show where the Kampo Nenang is or the Ronko township where it is located but I'm guessing it's in a place on the drawings called Getse close to the Puborgang mountains. I notice that I had the Puborgang mountain range in the wrong place in the earlier drawings! Anyway, before the arrival of the Gelukpa lineage the Kagyu lineage was quite strong here as was the Katokpa lineage of the Nyingma faith. The first Kamarpa Dusum Khyenpa founded the Kampo Nenang so it is a very wondrous place! I mentioned the rock that shows the letter KA each time a new Kamarpa is born. It's yet another shamanic means by which the Kamarpa aids the search party looking for his new incarnation. The Nyingma tradition in it's Katokpa form was enhanced here by Khedrub Yeshe Gyeltsen who it seems wrote a lot of texts! The Nyingmapa practitioners exist here even now as do the Kagyupa in the Karma Kagyu tradition but the Gelukpa lineage is the dominant one in the region after it's rise in the late 1500's again due to the Mongol influence in this case the armies of Gushi Qan. The third Dalai Lama Sonam Gyatso founded the Litang Chode which became the largest in the Porborgang region. We'll visit it a bit later. There's a lot more to add but as usual two as one we'll add to the notes later beautiful one!
