Through My Eyes
*
We're resting at the Lhakhang Karpo of the Litang Chode! We've gazed upon the images and received our shamanic guidance from Pehar! Pehar has several forms with the one at Nechung being known as Dorje Drakden as we know well! Our Footprint Tibet handbook shows the icons for each of the five aspects among them Kuyi Gyelpo, Sung-gi Gyelpo, Tukyi Gyelpo, Yonten-gyi Gyelpo and Trinle Gyelpo. As with all the deities each has certain postures and carries various instruments that symbolize the abilities they help develop and the protections they give to the mind. They each have a mantra associated with them I'm sure although it isn't mentioned. This may be because the mantras are sometimes kept secret to be revealed to those who have reached the stage where they are ready for the practice of that particular deity. They sometimes also have certain hand positions or mudras associated with them that are designed to affect circulation of energy through the nerve channels of the body or nadis such that maintaining the particular meditation is made easier. Very shamanic! I didn't mention what was on the next floor in the poem. It actually has quarters for the tenth Panchen Lama with photographs of the ninth and tenth Panchen Lamas along with the robes of the tenth Panchen Lama and the third Dalai Lama. The actual seat of the Panchen Lama is at Tashilhunpo so this was probably a place where the Panchen Lama would stay on his travels as was the case at Drango. The present incarnation of the Panchen Lama was taken prisoner by the Chinese communist government who refuses even to mention where he is. I'm sure you know of this already. Anyway, our Footprint Tibet handbook indicates some of the original images were saved! They are of Amitayus, Avalokiteshvara and Shakyamuni. There's a lot more to add but as usual two as one we'll add to the notes later beautiful one!
