Through My Eyes
*
We're in our coracle on the Tong-nyi Tsangpo on our way to the mountains and lakes of Dabpa Lhari! It's also called Rigsum
Gonpo but was named Dabpa Lhari by the great Fifth Dalai Lama. I'm not sure what the name he gave the area means but it must have some importance. Our Footprint Tibet handbook doesn't mention the names of the lakes but I'm sure they are the power places for powerful goddesses! The area between the mountains covers an area of 800 square kilometers about 300 square miles or about 198,000 acres! Our Footprint Tibet handbook indicates that they were the mirrors upon which the Lords of the three Families Chenrezi, Jampeyang, and Chakna Dorje. We also know them as Avalokiteshvara, Jamyang or Manjughosa, and Vajrapani! They were the three bodhisattvas that were responsible for the early transmission of the Mahayana Tibetan tradition. The Hinyana or the lesser vehicle as it is sometimes known is the way taken by those who simply sought to escape the pain of existence. The Mahayana tradition or greater vehicle is the way taken in which the practitioner upon attaining this realisation returns instead vowing to continue the cycle of birth and death until all beings have attained this state. Incredible compassion, incredible daring to risk returning into this turmoil filled world! I created the story using the symbolism our Footprint Tibet handbook gave us in which Jampeyang symbolised discriminative awareness,Chakna Dorje power and Chenrezi compassion. There's a lot more to add but as usual two as one we'll add to the notes later beautiful one!
