( We read of the use of salt and water in shamanic work!)
" Salt plays several roles in Mongolian and Siberian shamanism, chiefly for protection and cleansing. Salt is thrown for cleansing. This is an important part of the Peace Tree ritual, for the throwing of salt to the disturbed nature spirits has the power of transforming them from hostile entities into benevolent and helpful spirits. Salt is a barrier to evil spirits and enemies. When a house cleansing is done, a shaman strews salt throughout the home in the process of dispelling the chotgor that is haunting the place. A shaman will usually keep the threshold of her household well salted in order to keep out hostile spirits as well as unpleasant people.
Salt mixed with water has its own special properties. A shaman will measure out a certain amount of salt (three or four large spoonfuls) in response to a request by a client. This salt can be empowered by the spirits for healing, protection, harmony in relationships, or safety during travel. The shaman invokes the spirits and states the intention, speaking in a low voice into the salt. When she is done, the salt is wrapped up into a small bundle. The person or people for whom this dom( spell) has been done then dissolve the salt in cool water and wash their hands and face with that water. The salty water removes any potential for danger, illness, or disharmony. Once this has been done, the rest of the water is poured outside (not down the toilet!)
Water is used in certain types of dom as a way to remove negative energy from objects or hands. In all cases the water is cold. If there is a place where something objectionable, spiritually defiling, or violent has happened, a shaman may invoke the spirits and throw cold water on the spot where it occurred. Although smudging will remove spiritual entities that may be lingering, a splash of cold water quickly removes any negative energy. If a shaman has touched something that was spiritually polluting, she will wash her hands in cold water, then throw the water off the hands rather than drying them with a towel. Water is also used for washing the threshold of a household for healing and protection. It is important to remember that the excess water should not be dumped down the toilet as this is believed to negate the spiritual use of the water."
( In the Buryat world essential common substances can be used to work with energy !) I promise to add more tomorrow...

( Tahshi Deleh, gentle beautiful one! Kehrahng kusu debo yinpeh? I worked a bit more on the studio in the morning doing small repairs and then went up to the Grove. I had to take the long way around as the stream was near the top of it's banks! I cleared a path to the Manchurian apricots that I haven't had the chance to check on this season and went on the hill to clear around the trees a bit and to ramble about taking pictures. It's a good task for a day like this; I used the pruning shears which are easy to carry. I'll add our wildflowers and put this up a bit early so we can rest.
And so, as always we'll continue two as one on to tomorrow
my one gentle beautiful patient dream bright
long dark mane in sunlight
so for now I bid goodnight...Simjah Nahngo! )
( please see my spinning for you!) .
