( We read of the making of Ongons!)

"One of the most important tools in Mongolian and Siberian shamanism is the ongon, a symbolic dwelling or sitting place for shamanic helper spirits. An ongon can be abstract-a rock, shell, small animal skin, feather, or decorated stick-or made like a doll in order to give a human face to a spirit. Many ongons are simple pictures drawn on leather or paper. They are only a symbolic representation: a literal portrait of the spirit is unnecessary.
Ongons are a tool for interaction with the shamanic helper spirits. While the helper spirits usually are clustered in the general vicinity of the shaman at all time, the ongon is used in ritual to honor the spirits and to call the spirits. Ongons are also a visible reminder of the spirit family that the shaman has acquired. When they are not being used in ritual, ongons are kept in a the shaman's sacred place (hoimor), either out in the open or wrapped in a sky blue cloth. When a shaman leaves home to do her work, she may take some of her ongons with her. The placement of the ongons in the ritual space are a reminder of the presence of the shamanic spirits for the shaman as well as for the people for whom the work is being done.
Once you have met and interacted with your helper spirits, I recommend you create ongons for them. This is another opportunity for interaction with your shamanic spirits, as they will direct your creativity in the act of making them. It is best to assemble the materials and then meditate a little in order to tune in to them before starting to create with them."
(In the Buryat world creative use of material things provides a connection with the spiritual world!)  I promise to add more tomorrow...

( Tahshi Deleh, gentle beautiful one!  Kehrahng kusu debo yinpeh? I worked in the Grove today clearing around the trees.  Things look really good up there! Then I  returned to our studio to help with the outside where Mom is working on the foundation.  The messy nucleus looks much better although it may be a bit before I can muster up the courage to work on that again!  Today wasn't our warm and bright future day but it was a grand day to be sure and I took lots of pictures. I hope you liked the picture of the inside of our studio. I shifted our lotus blossoms around a bit so you could see them from the other side but it's hard to see them behind the bench!  Anyway, I didn't do the part of our work that I said I was going to do but it's going to be a bit warmer this week so I can finish painting the outside of the studio and show you how things are coming along.  I'll add  our wildflowers and put this up so we can rest.
And so, as always we'll continue two as one on  to tomorrow
