( We read of the origin of shamanic helper spirits in the Buryat tradition!)

"In Mongolia and Siberia the most spiritually powerful place is the area of the Sayan-Altai Mountains. Most Siberian nationalities as well as the ancient Mongols lived in that region during some part of their history and the most famous and powerful shamanic traditions come from here-Tuvan shamanism, the Hongoodor shamanic tradition, and Huvsgul Mongol shamanism. Why is that area so important? Why are the Sayan Mountains like the Olympus of shamanic tradition? For the answer, you must go back to the legends about the early history of mankind. These tell how the sky spirits looked after mankind after humans had been placed on the earth by the sky spirits living in the Pleiades and on the moon. (It should be noted that even today, UFO sightings are quite common in Mongolia and in the Sayan Mountains.)

It is said that in the galab time, thousands and thousands of years ago, when humans were first placed on earth, people lived in perfect harmony with the earth, prospering and without illness. The eastern sky spirits, who in our tradition represent the forces of destruction, realized that mankind would quickly overrun the earth and that something needed to be done to control the human population. Remember that the "black" spirits of the east and the "white" spirits of the west do not represent good and evil but, rather, the two balanced principles of creation and destruction, as essential to each other as the two sides of a coin. Only when they are in balance will the earth prosper; if more were created than could be destroyed, our universe would be overcome with and excess of old and superfluous things. On the other hand , if destruction is greater than creation, the beauty and richness of our lives will also be lost."

( Tahshi Deleh, gentle beautiful one! Kehrahng kusu debo yinpeh? I began the day in our studio fashioning a few more parts for the backstrap loom. I'll bring us a picture of it soon. It looks rather awesome in a humble sort of way! Then I went up to the Grove to check on the trees and native plants. I wish I could tell you things were fine up there. But we share the pain as well now. We've suffered some more loss beautiful one. We'll just have to plant more later when you come. The last few winters have been tough; I was astonished to see that even the cedar trees had suffered. I found a few mistakes that you've probably noticed for some time! Two as one we've fixed them as usual! I'll add our wildflowers and put this up so we can rest.

And so, as always we'll continue two as one on to tomorrow

my one gentle beautiful patient dream bright

long dark mane in sunlight

so for now I bid goodnight...Simjah Nahngo! )
