Through My Eyes
*
We're still in Purang . Well in Purang county at any rate. We were actually travelling in Khorzhak which I've highlighted on the drawing. The city of Purang is actually on both sides of the Karnali . In Purang, the cave city is on the west side of the Karnali ; at its west end is the Tsegu Gompa, the nine story monastery. Beneath the cliffs is one of the trading camps! Our Footprint Tibet handbook shows two more both a bit north of the caves one on each side of the Karnali. I've highlighted the Drangyer salt field since it's one of the places where the salt is gathered. Purang was said to be a place that where the Buddha spent one of his incarnations prior to his life as the Buddha. He was called Sudhana then and was a Tibetan! I haven't found anything much about Mt Nemo Nanyi except that it is one of the larger mountains in Tibet at 7728 M or 25,354 feet. Everest is about 29,025 ft for comparison. It can be seen from the ruins of Shepeling, a monastery and fortress which stands above the Purang. We'll continue with this later .Two as one we've some boards to work on for your loom beautiful one!
