(We continue listening to the Dalai Lama as he tells of compassion, world peace, and happiness in My Tibet written by he and Galen Rowell!)

" War and peace are in competition. Now the force of peace seems to be gaining momentum, and freedom is ever more important. All through the early part of the century and into the fifties and sixties, many people believed that human society could best develop through the sheer sort of discipline given out by one dictator. Through force, efforts were made to change human society. Political goals were obtained without concern for human suffering or the human cost of social experiments. In the Soviet Union and even more so in China, millions and millions of people perished in order to create a new human society. Many had complete faith in and allegiance to the communist way.

I make a distinction between original Marxism and the Marxism -with-power that became the political reality. Today we are watching Marxism-with-power, a system born in this century, lose its youthful exuberance and turn into a very old man with thick glasses, walking unsteadily with a cane. Within this century we may see him go to his grave. Communist countries are losing the battle against the basic human spirit, which cries for justice, freedom, and liberty. "

(This book was published in 1990 just before the end of the Soviet Union. I promise to add more tomorrow...)

( Tahshi Deleh gentle one! Kehrahng kusu debo yinpeh? I thought I'd mention your loom since I forgot to show it in the pages from our sacred place a couple of weeks ago. Be not concerned for we continue firmly on in spite of my stumblings as you know well! I began the day in our studio spinning for you then worked on the sculpture of Tara Drolma. I made a fair bit of progress and her hair looks awesome now I think! After that I headed out to wander about for awhile taking pictures then headed up gang rinpoche ngah tso gi to check the trees and native plants. Then I rested by your Medlar tree as usual before returning to our studio to work on the website for awhile then our a land of Tibet. After that I worked with the equipment and watched some Tibetan movies. Two as one we've fixed a few more mistakes on the pages. I'm going to put the pages up on our infosite; I'll put this up a bit early so we can rest.

And so, as always we'll continue two as one on to tomorrow
