( We read of some Buryat Festivals!)

" In the tradition in which I was trained there are certain festivals highlighting important times of the year. You are free to choose whether you want to observe them; you may prefer to observe festivals out of other traditions that you feel more connected with.
In Siberia and Mongolia the White moon festival (Sagaalgan) held in mid-February, marks the beginning of spring. It starts with the new moon of that month and usually falls close to the beginning of Lent in the Western calendar (there is a joke here in Siberia that when the Russians have to start fasting, we are feasting). The White Moon is the festival of the return of the spirits. It is believed that all the shamanic and nature spirits go to the upper world for cleansing and return at sunrise on the morning of the White Moon. The spirits are welcomed with fire, sacred smoke, and offerings of food and drink, and it is customary to avoid conflict or hostility until the moon becomes full. Thus the White Moon season is a time of forgiveness and reconciliation.
On April 20-21, when the migratory birds have arrived and mushrooms start to appear, the Great Spring Ceremony welcomes the birds and celebrates spring. A shamanic journey may be done to invoke blessing for the community and to ask for fertility of the people, the livestock, and the earth. Offerings of food, predominantly milk and other dairy products are made."

(We probably wouldn't celebrate the spring ceremony as we'd be rushing about trying to get things done; at least that's been the tradition observed thus far! )  I promise to add more tomorrow...

( Tahshi Deleh, gentle beautiful one!  Kehrahng kusu debo yinpeh? I tried to show as many of those  flower bud covered branches into the picture as I could! The pruning is just about completed. After working in the Grove I returned to our studio to work on our a land of Tibet. I was going to bring us the reading from the Secrets of the Soil book but somehow felt more like reading from Sarangerel's book. I thought we could use a change from reading terms though! Anyway, the most important thing which Sarangerel states many times is that we can choose what elements of the Buryat tradition we want to work with. Which is what we will do,we two together! I hope you liked the picture of me in your mirror. As you can see from my gloves being off, we are almost through this our second winter our winter of necessity as we continue firmly onward together through winters ever after!  Despite my stumblings! Two as one we've fixed a few more things on the website including the February dates on the poems which somehow I'd been writing down as January! We can fix them on our infosite tomorrow. It's late now so I'll add our wildflowers then put this up so we can rest.
And so, as always we'll continue two as one on  to tomorrow
