Through My Eyes

We're on lake Lhamo Lhatso the magical talisman of the Dalai Lamas! Actually we're on a stone throne that is many hundreds of years old where the Dalai Lamas and their regents would sit to look down upon the waters of the  lake. They used it as an oracle to locate the incarnations of the Dalai and Panchen Lamas; it was here that the Regent Reting Rinpoche saw the letters for Amdo and the home with that remarkable roof where the Dalai Lama was born.  The technique is of course very shamanic! The lake is surrounded by a natural mountainside ampitheatre shaped ridge of 5300 meters or about 17,000 feet and the throne sits some 150 meters, about 500 feet above it's surface which is over eight times higher than the Grove sits on our precious snow mountain!  It's sacred to Gyelmo Makzorma, one of the forms of the protector goddess Shridevi whose shrine was located at the eastern end of the lake. It's now marked by prayer flags!  At Chokhorgyel the Terplung chu runs at the base of three mountains which are the abodes of the protector deities Zhidag to the north, Shridevi to the south  and Begtse to the east. The Terplung chu flows down to the Brahmaputra on it's way passing through the marshlands of Metoktang the Plain of Flowers! But I'll tell more of this in the poem; two as one we'll add to the  notes a bit later beautiful one!
