Through My Eyes
Sunday March 14
( We continue to read of some Buryat Festivals!)
" The Harvest Festival, held at the fall equinox, ends the peak period of spiritual activity and is a time of thanking the spirits for the bounty of the summer. Food offerings and feasting are a major component of this festival. In the shamanic ritual calendar, this is the new year and it was the original Sagaan Sar ( White moon) festival. Shamanic activity is limited to small-scale rituals until the Great Spring Ceremony of the following year. This is because many of the spirits are much less active between the autumn and spring equinoxes.
On October 16 or 17 Buryat shamans honor Bayan Hangai, the spirit of the forests and natural world. This marks the advent of winter, for this is about the time when the first snow will fall in Siberia."
( Our year begins later than this of course!) I promise to add more tomorrow...

( Tahshi Deleh, gentle beautiful one! Kehrahng kusu debo yinpeh? I worked for awhile in our studio on your loom then headed up to the Grove to bring down more tree food. Two as one we've moved out another 4000 pounds and cleaned up the first big pile! As you can see by the picture the hill is quite steep just below where the wagon sits. There were some very quick bumpy rides down! I still have to rake the tree food around some of the trees. I'll add our wildflowers then put this up so we can rest.
And so, as always we'll continue two as one on to tomorrow
my one gentle beautiful patient dream bright
long dark mane in sunlight
so for now I bid goodnight...Simjah Nahngo! )
( please see my spinning for you!) .
