Sunday March 20

                                                                    *
A glimpse

 forth to the span

to the  leading light of my long day

slight gentle beautiful determined bright one

patiently  making her way

she firmly alone firmly herself

to quietly remind me

that not so far away

for she I we two

our warm and bright future day

and to her then to say to tell

of the way from Gyeltangteng

northeast to the mountains of Hongshan

Red in the mountain light are they

adorned as with precious jewels

with glowing flowers

that peer out from among

the great scree rock slopes

and high meadows

where azaleas and rhododendron climb up

as large as trees covered with lavender

pink and white above

their shining green

To return to Gyeltangteng

thence southeast we go

to a high mountain meadow

where the flowers bloom

as few places upon earth

and the waters of Zhado tso

stir quietly beneath the mountain wind

and flicker in gleaming splendor

beneath the vast blue sky

Not far the green depths of Balgo forest

and the glowing mystery of Beta tso

their images speak to the mind

whose names have become

hidden by the passage

of centuries beyond count

we rest and listen

for their voice

in the waves upon the hallowed shore

and the rustling of branches

swaying

in the wind

they speak of yet others

We rise

to where the trees grow

their roots twisting among

the cracks in the massive rock

to climb into the vast mountain sky

their images painted upon

the shining expanse of

Jehra tso below

we see in its light

another place shines up at us

a trail just visible

upon a meadow

We make our way

to the heights where the ice

of millenia melts

beneath the mountain light

trickles

then flows

to the waters just below

Look beautiful one

far above

it's Yangdo Ubdutso

where the waters swirl

around the stones

beneath our gaze

as precious eyes in zhi

set among glinting

silver and gold

and intense blazing

crystal blue

as a diamond from

the mountains depth

All this not so wonderful

to my straining eyes

as your determined beauty

and uplifted patient dignity

this that I see in you

beneath the open sky

on this afternoon

of our winter of working and waiting

Lotus blossoms rest

upon the window sill

and so we wait

two as one

we our effort

real and lasting

slight gentle

beautiful one
