Through My Eyes
*
We're in our coracle near the shore of the Nang chu on our way to the Zangdok Pelri Drupuk cave of Yeshe Tsogyel Padmasambhava along with the other sacred sites on Dolmari hill! There are herbs and nectar there as we know well! There is also supposed to be something in lakes above the Rudam Kyitram that Padmasambhava created called medicinal myrobalan but I don't know what this is yet! We know a fair bit of the sacred caves from the poem. Zechen the monastery that once stood here was of the Nyingmapa lineage and was one of it's great monasteries. The other two that come to mind are Samye the first monastery by Mount Hepori where Padmsambhava subdued the forces arrayed against the new faith and the Mindroling which is the largest of the Nyingmapa monasteries built, also in central Tibet. We haven't travelled to Mindroling yet I don't think! We notice the word Orgyen in both Mindroling and Dzogchen monasteries; it also appears elsewhere. This is actually Padmasambhava's name and indicates they were part of the Nyingma tradition. There is a humorous story of Patrul Rinpoche going for a trip to visit Jamyang Khyentse, another great contemporary, and encountering the servants. Insulted by his appearance and seemingly casual attitude they rudely sent him off. When asked his name he turned and snapped "Orgyen" which was one of his names and marked him as a member of the Padmasambhava lineage. Jamyang Khyentse returned and being omniscient realized what had happened. He made them seek out the wandering yogin immediately! There's a lot more to add but as usual two as one we'll add to the notes later beautiful one!
