Through My Eyes

Wednesday April 30

The top of the serviceberry tree on another day of quiet patience. The weather was beautiful but it was one of those grey sad days anyway.(Gorgeous isn't it?  The trees came in today but  they hadn't been well treated and were improperly packed.  It's a miserable business and one that has happened many times.  If I sent them back they would die.  If I plant them they will struggle to stay alive and may lose years of growth recovering. )

The root systems were cut back tremendously and with the packing open they had dried out.  Generally this is a very bad thing because they are unduly shocked.  I was told though that if they aren't shriveled and the buds don't look bad they probably haven't been damaged by it.  I was also told that the roots may grow back and branch well although the head of the sales firm allowed as 4-5 inches was a bit excessive.  It's going to be a struggle though.  Into water overnight they go!  Early tomorrow I'll put the roots in a shallow ditch and cover them with a bit of soil until they can be planted.
Anyway, I'm going to work on the prayer flag banner for the Windhorse project  a little while tonight.  The script is almost done!  Our independent effort of the heart continues past ridicule and deception determinedly.  I sense that the outreach idea I had could  prove to be counterproductive because of attempts to "redefine" the project  and change it's focus or control it's future.  This I will not allow. There are many efforts and causes to achieve lasting good out there and there is precious little sense in allowing our effort to become subsumed by them regardless of what folks may may want, be it well intentioned or ill intentioned.  Our focus and methods will be unique ( or at least as unique as we can manage!)  I say this firmly as I sit here with my wet socks , dirty torn pants and bits of peat moss stuck in my hair.  I played the flute to the trees in the Grove to welcome them and the devas  back to the coming growing season.  Mom and I went up to see the trees; they look fabulous!  I've taken lots of pictures so you will be able to see them along with me!  It's hard to get them to come out as well because they are very light  in the sun and show up somewhat blurry.  Perhaps you know how to fix this already.  I'd better get to sleep now. Tomorrow comes early! We can read together later in the week.   I promise to add more tomorrow...
And, so
     to my one  dream bright
                          I bid goodnight!
