Through My Eyes
![]() *
We're in Lhassa in the Kyi Chu valley! At this scale it would be hard to show the circumambulation around Mount Kailas so I've put together the drawings and notes for Lhassa and the general area for us to look over first. The river flowing from North to South is the Kyi Chu river. Like the Brahmaputra it's fed by glaciers from the Nyenchen Tanglha mountains from which it comes. Lhassa sits on the North bank of the Kyi chu and not far to the North is the immense Gephel Utse ridge. My puny lines don't do it justice but you get the idea! We can remember the description of the ridge from Art Perry's book as he describes Ganden monastery which is farther east along the ridge. Drepung and Sera monasteries are sited there and a bit to the southeast of Drepung is the Nechung monastery, place of the oracle! Lukhang is of course in Lhassa at the Potala as is the Norbulingka and the Jokhang. The Johkang we haven't looked at yet but will soon; another awesome place! I'll add more description later as it's getting a bit late gentle beautiful one!
