Through My Eyes
Sunday November 9
( We read of the universe as seen in the Buryat tradition!)
" The universe is generally considered by all Siberian traditions to comprise three worlds-an upper, a middle , and a lower world. All three are inhabited by spirits; the middle world is unique however, in that it also contains physical reality. The upper world is considered to be located beyond the sky, not in outer space but rather, in some dimension beyond it. Doors to the upper world are believed to be open sometimes; when they do, bright light streams out because the upper world is thought to be much brighter than the other worlds. The upper world is the home of spirits who play a great role in human fate, the tenger, zayaans, and khans. A shaman may travel to the upper world to communicate with these spirits and negotiate blessings for certain people or for her community. Upper-world spirits are generally invisible to physical sight and a shaman traveling to the upper world may likewise be invisible if the upper world- being lacks shamanic abilities. Each human being contains an upper world spirit.
The lower world is also a spirit realm and is visualized as being below, although not literally so. Journeying there is generally visualized as a downward movement through some sort of passageway. The Buryat expression gazarai urhe means "smoke hole of the earth" a hole in the earth through which shamans may pass to enter the lower world. Visualize these passages as tunnels or watercourses such as the source of a spring or the river Dolbor, which is believed to flow into the lower world. The lower world is generally perceived as somewhat dark- it reminds me of the light on a cloudy day, a little grayer than normal. The lower world is inhabited by human souls between incarnations. It is not an unpleasant place but seems rather natural and unspoiled by modern technology."
(In the Buryat world beings exist on different levels!) I promise to add more tomorrow...

( Tahshi Deleh, gentle beautiful one! Kehrahng kusu debo yinpeh? The lime we need for the Grove is at the top of the hill now and the other returned. I've put out more of it and moved about half to the tree rows. Things have gone quite well! There's lots more to be put into the Grove but if the weather holds two as one we'll complete it in a week or so. I was finally able to rest for a bit by your Medlar tree which is preparing for winter. It still has leaves on top which is sort of amazing and the praying mantis have left an egg case on it to give rise to more protectors in the Grove! I'll add our wildflowers and put this up so we can rest.
And so, as always we'll continue two as one on to tomorrow
my one gentle beautiful patient dream bright
long dark mane in sunlight
so for now I bid goodnight...Simjah Nahngo! )
( please see my spinning for you!) .
