( We continue to read of Ongons!)

"Call in your helper spirits with a simple invocation. Once you have done this, address the spirit for which the ongon was specifically made. If you do not know its name, assign one that fits its attributes or use, according to how you perceive it. In fact, many ongons in Mongolia and Siberia have such names, as the actual names of the spirits are forgotten, taboo, or both (Zol Zayaach, for instance, approximately means "worker of fortune"). State your intention: that you have crated the ongon for this spirit and would like the spirit to imbue it with its essence. Hold the ongon upward in front of you. You may feel a flow of spiritual energy into the ongon as the spirit takes hold of it. You will be able to tell the difference between "alive" and "dead" ongons, for the spiritual essence in them will be directly perceptible through your hands.

From this time on the ongon is a physical extension of the spirit for which it was made. Treat it with respect, as if it were the actual presence of the spirit, for that is what it is. Do not allow non shamans to handle it except in the context of shamanic work, unless you are sure the object will be handled with the honor it deserves. If, in your shamanic work, you ever handle ongons used by other shamans, be prepared to be contacted by the spirits in them. They will often reach out to other shamans when their ongons are handled-that has happened to me a couple of times in Siberia.

If the spirit in the ongon is one that has joined you recently, you may want to learn more about it. By drumming in its presence and making contact with it, you will learn more about the nature of the spirit and what kinds of work it is good for."

( Tahshi Deleh, gentle beautiful one! Kehrahng kusu debo yinpeh? I continued working in the Grove and have just about finished putting up the tree collars. With us working two as one it continues to go well! It was quiet and peaceful up there. Then it was down to the studio to tidy up,get rid of junk mail, pay bills, the stuff I'm not particularly enthusiastic about. Ugh! But at least it's done. I managed to get off just about all the paint I'd gotten on me; it took a bit of work as that paint really sticks! I'll add our wildflowers and put this up so we can rest.

And so, as always we'll continue two as one on to tomorrow

my one gentle beautiful patient dream bright

long dark mane in sunlight

so for now I bid goodnight...Simjah Nahngo! )
