The time was late September and the deer had accidently run down one side of the fence around the grove. Naturally, they had to eat a bit after all that. Perfectly understandable of course. A bit anxiety provoking though!

Here's Mike on one end of a two person crosscut saw we used to take down a dead tree. We worked with axes also. There are many dead trees around the place so there isn't a need to cut down any living ones.

We split the larger trunks into 2 or 3 posts with a sledgehammer and steel wedges. The heavier split wooden posts, although a bit twisted and wacky looking, will help to shore things up.
