Wildflowers





 This is arrowhead ( it was also called Wapatoo).  It's tubers are edible and sustained Native Americans and Pioneers throughout North America.  However, to obtain it one had to walk around for hours in the  freezing water of ponds and marshes during late February and early March  pulling up the tubers with one's feet.*  Brr!  






And here is a  closeup of the Wapatoo flower cluster. ( A lotus bouquet of sorts!) I promise to add more later...
