Through My Eyes
*
I haven't yet had time to work on the sculpture of Tara Drolma but I've been working on a new design for the frame loom! This will be much easier to carry, you can tuck it under one arm easily. Some views...
![]() The pictures are a bit smaller as I took them on my cell phone camera.
![]() The joinery holding them together is called mortise and tenon and is among the strongest ways to hold wood together. They fit quite well; when I first put them together they were so tight I had to pare both parts ever so slightly so that there would be enough room for the glue and for expansion when the wood becomes more moist in the outside air. It is what is called a "blind " joint; no part of the joint can be seen when the peices are put together. I did a bit more not seen here. Instead of using ready made dowels to go across I am turning my own using the wood lathe. I'll show these soon along with some of the small blocks of wood I finished to try different wood stains and finishing techniques.
So the frame is very simple, strong, and when finished should have a quality of elegance and softness. It is my hope that it's softness may reflect the softening of hearts and growing of wisdom in minds where it most needs to- as soon as possible. There's a lot more to add but as usual two as one we'll add to the notes later beautiful one!
