Continuing work on the sculpture of Tara Drolma!  Here I'm creating a piece to test the casting materials with. First I begin the armature to hold the clay
as usual...


I don't have a metal flange so I've just used a piece of wood into which I've drilled a hole using a drill brace. The hole isn't sized exactly so I've cut
a wedge of wood from the front of the piece of wood...

  

which I push into the hole along side the tubing. It makes the fit quite tight! It will be even stronger when the wood becomes wet and swells. Then the wooden piece is anchored to the stand. We can see some measurements written on the board. We'll save these; they are those for the birdhouses I put together awhile back. And the base is a piece of board from the making of the studio stairs!

Here's the armature just about completed. I've put a couple of peices of copper tubing in and then looped lots of wire between it in the usual way
to hold up the clay...


And here I'm adding the clay. I'm packing it into the armature quite tightly.  Soon it will be time to order some casting materials to experiment with. I have made do with what was in the studio mostly much as Tibetans have had to do in exile.  When you are content with what you have the mind is calmer and more flexible. In this way Tibetans have been able to see more possibilities in the situation that exists and build from there. Things are coming along quite well!  There's a lot more to add but as usual two as one we'll add to the notes later beautiful one!
