Through My Eyes

We're resting on the hill of the Pelyul Namgyel Jangchubling and the Hospital of Traditional Tibetan Medicine! Our Footprint Tibet handbook indicates that the hospital is now presided upon by Dr. Phuntsok Rabten. Many Tibetans come here! We've read something of the complexity of Tibetan medicine; it is quite wondrous to be sure. That Tara is associated with the website I mentioned is particularly fitting as Tara is very much concerned with the lives of ordinary Tibetans struggling through life and has been associated with the granting of many fervent prayers for assistance.  A long time ago it is said that Tara was practicing and was approached by some monks who were impressed with her progress. They told her she should ask for a favorable rebirth as a man so as to be sure to be able to succeed. She flatly stated that this was nonsense and furthermore said that she would pray always to be born as a woman as long as beings suffered in existence. This she did and thus remains Tara to this day!  The Pelyul Namgyel Jangchubling is particularly noted for it's activity in spreading the Nyingma spoken traditions throughout Tibet and it produced a twenty volume collection of these teachings using the same xylograph printing block method as was used at Derge! Two as one we've worked a bit on a printing block, enough to know that producing all the blocks needed for the entire set would have been an amazing task! Anyway, the Nyingma Kama, as the oral collection was named along  a set of works written by Namcho Mingyur Dorje were created in their entirety during the time of the eighth preceptor Orygen Dongok Chokyi Nyima. We notice the name Orygen again, one of the names for Padmasambhava. Namcho Mingyur Dorje was a lama who had a great influence over the early years of Pelyul ; despite his short incarnation of only 23 years he had a profound effect upon the teachings there. Most likely he continued to exert some degree of influence there after that of course since such practitioners have a great deal of control of their existence between incarnations. He may even have returned as Orygen Dongok Chokyi Nyima although our Footprint Tibet handbook doesn't indicate whether or not this is the case. There's a lot more to add but as usual two as one we'll add to the notes later beautiful one!
