Through My Eyes
*
We're in our coracle on the Gyeltang chu on our way to Chukar ridge beneath Haba Gangri and the awesome rapids of Takchong Gak! I admit to being a bit confused about the chu we are on. Our Footprint Tibet handbook indicates it's named the Yangpang Tsangpo but the descriptions and drawings seem to indicate that this may be another name for the Gyeltang chu. In any case we'll get to shore before we get to the rapids at Takchong Gak! With an incredible 3250 meter 11,000 foot drop that is almost vertical at 75-80 degrees it's almost an enormous waterfall. If it were the Tak might well be leaping from the highest on earth! The rock here must be very hard to withstand such powerful leaps as long as it has. The cliffs still shed great piles of stone in rock slides though. So we'll head to shore and up to the Chukar ridge to make an offering to the spirits of this place. Our Footprint Tibet handbook describes it as looking like a terraced field or as though made of tiers of jade and silver. It does seem to be a location of great power; one that the dakini sky dancers would use to inspire pilgrims with shamanic sight! There's a lot more to add but as usual two as one we'll add to the notes later beautiful one!
