Through My Eyes

                                                                                                  *
We're in our coracle on the way through Jang Sadam on the way to Luijang and the Liu Lidian Bumishi monastery!  Our Footprint Tibet handbook indicates that Jang Sadam is inhabited by a Tibetan people called the Naxi. It seems a very shamanic culture! It's culture and faith is called the Dongba ; within it we encounter the ancient local deities along with those of the Bon  and the Buddhist pantheon! There's even some Chinese Daoism incorporated into this ancient faith. The Kagyu Buddhist lineage was particularly strong here hence the presence of the Kamarpa in the Lui Lidian!  We know of the Kamarpa the founder of the Kagyu lineage already but I thought I'd mention a bit more about him in the poem. Anyway, much of this has been recorded and can be found in texts in the United States, Europe, China and Taiwan. Unfortunately the Chinese government doesn't practice this wisdom. Our Footprint Tibet handbook mentions Tsering Wangdu a famous Tibetan ethnomusicologist most known for studying the Dongba culture. His nephew is none other than Ngawang Choephel who went to Tibet from  the U.S.to continue these studies and was imprisoned by the Chinese for 'espionage activities.' You probably know of this already!  Anyway, he was finally released on a medical parole after 6 years of intense efforts on his behalf.  The Bumishi monastery is built mostly in the Chinese style but within on Tibetan style frescos are the familiar wondrous beings we know! This includes the Buddha who I didn't mention in the poem. We'll fix this soon! The Buddha image sits in the center with the Avalokiteshvara Chenrezik, Vajrasattva Dorje Senpa and Vajrayogini Dorje Neljorma toward the back.
There's a lot more to add but as usual two as one we'll add to the notes later beautiful one!
