Through My Eyes
*
We're in our coracle quietly resting in a pool of a sacred stream, the Chim I think ,that flows through the center of the the Chimpu ridge to enter yet another place of great shamanic power and mystery! Soon we'll continue our travelling up the ridge toward a stupa ; there are some aromatic herbs there which probably have many uses in Tibetan medicine. Then it's on to the Sangwa Metok cave to look at a sculpture that was carved by Padmasambhava himself! It's of Manjushri who, like Avalokiteshvara is one of the great Bodhisattvas that having attained the highest wisdom still remained among living beings to help them along. Within the cave itself the Terton Jigme Lingpa recieved visions that allowed him to complete a major work of Tibetan Buddhism. Then there's Tsogyel Drubpuk, the Meditation Cave of Yeshe Tsogyel. In the rock we can see the impression of Yeshe Tsogyel's foot and Padmasambhava's hat! Another of the caves Drakmar Keutsang is particularly sacred in Tibet. Our Footprint Tibet handbook describes it as a primary pilgrimage place for the Buddha speech; I'm not sure what this means yet. It was also the location of one of those displays of mastery over the life death transition that we read of earlier. In this case the Princess Pemasel, probably written Pema sel, had unfortunately died in spite of being ready for a certain teaching. So Padmasambhava brought her back to her incarnation to teach her before guiding her spirit on to the next one. This was actually described as having been done in several cases and certainly wasn't a problem for such master who could fly over the tops of mountains! We can look out over the Brahmaputra valley from here then head down to a sacred spring near the path farther down the mountain. There's a lot more to add but as usual two as one we'll add to the notes later beautiful one!
