( We read of the making of Ongons!)

"Leather, cloth, paper, feathers, bone,wood,crystals-anything you find significant in your spiritual practice is appropriate material for an ongon. In my own shamanic work I often make an ongon for the spirit Zol Zayaach, who brings protection and blessings to households. This ongon is made of leather and is painted with the stick figures of a man and woman. Depending on how the spirits advise me or what the individual needs of the family are, I will decorate it with feathers or  beads or attach a stone in a small hanging bag. The leather piece is also decorated with various traditional sacred symbols or even magical words. According to tradition, additional decorations ( I use beads) are added to Zol Zaaach as an expression of good fortunate things that happen after the ongon has been created. In the same way, you may continue to add decorations to your ongons ot commemorate successful shamanic rituals or other blessings from the spirits. Some of the ancestral spirit ongons I have are carved from wood. They have faces and clothing and generally resemble dolls. The ongons I have seen take all kinds of forms, from something as simple as an unusual stone wrapped in birch bark to a rattle carved to look like a raven, from a seashell to painted doll like ongons. The creative expression of making ongons is part of your ongoing interaction with your spirits, so you can make them in any form that works for you. Try to keep them small and simple though, so that they can be carried from place to place easily and will not break. If you have an object that has special meaning for you and you want to designate it as an ongon, you are free to do so. It is not unusual for an ongon to be created by someone else, but the most important thing is the act of amiluulah, bringing  the spirit into the ongon, which is done only by shamans.
Shamans also usually have what in Mongolian is called a sahuis. It is similar to a medicine bag in Native American tradition. It is usually a bag filled with the shaman's most sacred objects, and it is an ongon of the udha spirit. In some cases the sahuis may be a pendant that is worn around the neck. Keep it with you as much as possible. Others should not handle it without permission."
(In the Buryat world communication with the spirit world with material things relies upon the individual's own creative sense!)  I promise to add more tomorrow...

( Tahshi Deleh, gentle beautiful one!  Kehrahng kusu debo yinpeh?  A big day! I started out pulling the main water to the pump up the hill so that it could drain and covered the ends. It's something of a job because it is a few hundred feet long and the grass and plants grow thickly over it in the course of the growing season!  So you have to pull it up out of the grass before hauling it up. I used the harness this time which made it a lot easier although I did get a bit too close to the hornet's nest and got stung a few times. I just moved over a bit !  Then I returned to the studio to work on the monthly pages that I've gotten so far behind on with the work on the studio.  Then I brought up the last of the mulch for the year with Mom's wagon, scythed a bit in the Native plantings, and read from our Tibetan language book and played the flute by your Medlar tree. Since we are working two as one it all went quite well! It's Mom's birthday tomorrow! I asked her what she wanted to do on her birthday and she simply looked at the foundation and said, "cement!" I guess she wants to get it completed! I'll add  the monthly pages and our wildflowers and put this up so we can rest.
And so, as always we'll continue two as one on  to tomorrow
