Through My Eyes

We're on the Chang Tang plateau!  Our Footprint Tibet handbook describes it as being "dotted with lakes" and there sure are a lot of them! There are many more than I've  brought us particularly near Luma Jang Tang Tso. I've typed most of the names in so you can read my handwriting more easily. You can see what I mean about the length of Tibet compared to it's width! It's actually about half the size of the U.S. or all of Western Europe. I'll jot down some more notes about the lakes and surrounding areas, many of whom surely must have wondrous places. The importance of  the lake areas  for Tibetans appears to not only necessarily to be as a source of water since many are salty, but also because they often are surrounded by lower altitude pastures where nomads can graze their herds.  The route I've traced out has lots of interesting spots so I'll bring it to us in a poem!  The story associated with Tsaparang is very sad as it was destroyed along with the rest of the ancient kingdom of Guge by another country so even though the place itself is  fascinating I thought we could continue travelling  to it later.
