Through My Eyes
Tuesday May 6
Here we are getting ready to scythe some grass for mulch for the trees in the Grove ( The scythe is sharp but it still is more like raking than cutting because the grass is in those thick tussocks. It will take awhile, because it takes a fair amount of cutting to create enough mulch for each tree! I was outside until late working on this and checking on the trees. We'll read more together later in the week.)
*( please click here to read of the day with me )

* ( I cut a bit less than half an acre, about the size of a couple of city house lots. It was just enough for four trees. I haven't been raking it down to the ground closely though either. Those tussocks are good for slowing the stream water down when it floods so that the ground beneath doesn't erode. Lots of living beings have their home in the grass also so I don't want to bother them unduly. In general, the plan is to move nutrients and organic material from the bottomland where the flooding and runoff from the hill act to feed the soil and move them up to the top of the hill around the trees. I didn't even bother to put the hay in the wagon. It's pretty simple really. You just roll a bunch of hay up into a big tight ball, just as when making a snowman and carry the whole wad up the hill. I really need to clean up the table this computer is sitting on. It's a wholesale disaster! It generally piles up until the time taken to find something exceeds the time it takes to deal with all the junk. It's getting pretty close now; I spent about 15 minutes rummaging around for the cord that downloads pictures from the camera . It was right in front of me of course. I went out to the studio to look at the banner again; it looks really good! I may try to make a clay model and/or drawings of the lotus blossoms so as to make sure they will be in proportion to the banner itself. The trees are growing strongly now although the main trunks toward the tops are somewhat delayed. They usually are though and the very cold winter delayed them even more since theywere the most exposed. I need to do more reading on Tibet; it's that time of year and I'm a bit behind. Ah, well. We do a little each day and slowly our effort grows.
And, so
to my one dream bright
I bid goodnight! ( for now, as we continue on to tomorrow.)
